A successful Lesson
A SUCCESSFUL LESSON for me
A |
ccording to my weekly planner, today was set for the discussion and correction of a unit test which was taken in a week back. I believe that this was a great delay for unit tests to be marked and discussed with students. It was all because of a one week ICT workshop I attended during the last week.
By the way I began the class in an energetic way with the Islamic greeting Assalam Alaikum. Normally all my classes are controllable and misbehaviours are less during the lessons. So I shared some of my experiences in the workshop and brought the students on to the mood. They all were eagerly waiting for the unit test marks because I never delayed giving marks for more than two days. So I began...
Firstly I briefed the general overview of the marks obtained by the class and highlighted the areas they still need improvements based on what they had done. Then I distributed the answer scripts to the students by calling on their names. After that I began with the discussions....
After the discussion I took question one and separated those who did it fully correct and those who could not. I separated the two groups and gave the name “couch” to the group of students who got full marks for question one and “students” to the group of the rest of the students. After that I asked each one of the couch group to select one student each from the student group (Note: couches are more).
As the next task I asked the couches to assist the student peers. I let them do this in pairs. After that I began observing the whole class. When all the students began the work I announced the prize for the task. The prize was to give a chocolate to the best teacher and the student of the best teacher. The best teacher would be considered as the couch of the student who completes the question first without any errors.
CONCLUSION
I found this lesson very interesting and effective as 100% of the students who did not get full marks for the question learnt the topic thoroughly. All the students completed the work before the bell. Finally I promised to give them the chocolates the next day.
I hope you would find this helpful for your teaching life
